Pentagon Hotels
The Pentagon is the headquarters of the U.S. Department of Defense. One of the world's largest office buildings, approximately 23,000 employees come to work in the Pentagon every day. The Pentagon tours program was established in 1976 and has been extremely popular since then, boasting over 100,000 visitors each year.
All tours are free of charge and are scheduled by reservation only. The tours are offered Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 am and 3 pm, and groups of all sizes are welcome. Visitors to the Pentagon are able to view 20 fascinating historical items that include the mission of the Department of Defense, information about the four branches of the military (Navy, Air Force, Army and Marine Corps) and displays that highlight significant moments in military history. Each tour lasts about one hour, and is one mile in length.
Major points of interest for visitors to the Pentagon include the Berlin Wall Exhibit, the Air Force Aircraft Display and the memorial near the Sept. 11th crash-site. Unlike tours at many museums or historical sites, the Pentagon tours are led by actual active-duty employees of the National Capital Region's military ceremonial units.
